DESCRIPTION: Published and extracted from the 'The Grand Magazine of Magazines or A Public Register of Literature and Amusement'. Publisher M Cooper, London especially for the ‘Grand Magazine of Magazines’ and was published in the February issue of 1751.

It accompanied ‘An Account of Quebec to the mouth of the river Mississippi’ based on the account of the Jesuit father Chalevoix. The account begins in the form of a letter: ‘From the map I have sent you, it appears, that the French, by means of their settlements in Canada and on the River Mississippi, have entirely surrounded our settlements upon the continent of North America’. The account ends with arrival at New Orleans ‘for so the French have called the city that they have begun to build.’ A very early and extremely rare map that preludes the coming war between France and Britain.
