A Miniature Map of Poland by Robert Morden, Circa 1711

DESCRIPTION: Engraved uncoloured map from Pat Gordon's 'Geography Epitomiz'd' 1711.

A work first published by Robert Morden [circa 1669-1703] in 1693 with folding world maps taken from his 'Geography Anatomiz'd' of 1680, and employed here without alteration.

COMMENTS

They are sometimes characterised as 'Miniature Morden Maps', and are very suitable and attractive for framing. In 1722 Gordon's work replaced the maps with a new set by John Senex, but these lack the charm and finesse of these Morden originals.

SIZE: Map Size: 123 x 111mm

With Margin: 180mm x 175mm

CONDITION: Tiny pin hole on lower left side blank margin, usual fold marks as issued. A beautiful example.
