Bible: (736pp) with title page within cut border with coat of arms on verso. Title page to new testament within woodcut border.

Referenced by Darlow and Moule 597, ESTC locates 6 copies of which 2 are in North America. A rare octavo edition without the Apocrypha as issued, bound in near contemporary plain dark brown calf, sides with blind borders.

FURTHER INFORMATION

Printed during the English Civil War this small size bible for personal and domestic use still carries the royal coat of arms of Charles I and is one of the last to be printed during his reign.


SIZE: 174 x 115mm

CONDITION: Binding shows wear to corners, spine ends and joints, commensurate with age. Short splits to upper joints however sound.
Internally: With front endpaper removed, title page a bit soiled and slightly frayed at fore edge. Some light soiling and fore edge fraying to other leaves with early pen trials on the blanks however basically a sound tight copy in original state. Complete with its original concordance and metrical psalms.
