DESCRIPTION: Octavo, 360 unnumbered leaves, title page printed in red and black within woodcut border representing the tree of Jesse with portrait of Queen Elizabeth to title verso. Pages of text surrounded by borders engraved on wood by Mary Byfield after designs mostly by Holbein and Durer. Bound in contemporary full dark olive green crushed polished morocco signed J Wright, gilt panelled to sides, the spine richly gilt within raised bands, inner gilt dentelles and marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. SIZE: 185 x 120mm CONDITION: Minor rubbing to the extremities of the binding and slight marking to lower board. A blank leaf facing title page excised and with an early quotation from Dibdin on front free endpaper.
