DESCRIPTION: In 3 parts [as issued], pagination: viii, 95, [3], 84, [3], 6 - 72, [20, Conchology.], [8, List of Subscribers], with folding engraved area map as frontispiece, 16 fine colour aquatint plates after William Noble and Daniel Havell including 4 folding, bound in contemporary half olive straight grained morocco, blue marbled sides, spine decorated in blind, CONDITION: Binding is rubbed at joints and sides, and slightly worn at corner tips, some evidence of misfolding to map and plates, the map with short inner splits at folds, but internally sound and clean throughout without the usual foxing [except slightly to the tissue interleaves to the plates] or offsetting. FIRST EDITION, the book-form issue following the issue in separate parts. , this issue has a full set of 16 plates, though the actual plates vary from copy to copy, and other copies traced have only 15

SIZE: Octavo [size: 140 x 220 mm]

CONDITION: A nice copy in contemporary binding a well-known and avidly collected topographical aquatint title, with illustrations of exceptional quality. A clean copy with wide margins, only one margin slightly stained not effecting image.
